The Concrete Wastewater Mess
In today’s fast paced and cut throat construction industry, people have lost site of the environmental issues. Concrete wastewater from washing out concrete trucks and pumps presents a very large problem for regional watersheds. Concrete wastewater has a pH level of 12; plant life survives at 6.5, and most of the time the truck drivers wash this caustic water directly on the ground or use other inferior containment systems. For years people have used plastic lined boxes or holes dug into the ground with a hay bale perimeter and lined with sheets of plastic. Both of these systems commonly fail due to holes in the plastic or rain water filling them and overflowing into the rivers and streams we are trying to protect.
